1962 Gibson Les Paul Junior

Oh man...

I had yet to own an SG so I had been doing some research as to which ones were the best.  As it turns out, most SGs are crap because they are made with a short neck tenon that  makes them constantly go out of tune.  Bummer.  The earliest models had a long tenon though and no coincidence, were the most desirable and, of course, the costliest.

This one is completely original with the exception of the tuners.  Unlike most SGs of this vintage, the finish on this one is not checked at all.  There are numerous hacks & dings though - it adds some character.

The guitar is amazingly comfortable to play and has a fairly fat neck - not as fat as some I’ve played but excellent.  What amazed me the most was the ancient P-90!  This is probably the best sounding guitar that I own thanks to that pickup.  It is truly amazing!  It sounds almost as if there is a small amount of chorus blended into the guitar signal.  You could play this for days and not get tired.  I am blown away.  How could I have missed this all my life?
