This custom made MJ Mirage guitar was given to Kevin Cadogan by MJ Guitars in 1997.  There is a personal letter from MJ to Kevin Cadogan in the guitar case thanking him for playing a Mirage on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Kevin used this guitar to record the Third Eye Blind “Blue” album and on tour with the band before his departure.  The 22nd fret contains the serial number which starts with the initials “KC”.

This early Mirage features a chambered mahogany body with a faux carved top, natural faux binding, mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard.  Hardware includes an early Lollar P-90 in the bridge position and a Seymour Duncan P90 in the neck position, a 3 way selector switch, independent volume controls and a master tone knob.  an adjustable wraparound tailpiece and Grover tuners are standard.

MJ Guitars makes some really fantastic instruments.  This guitar is no exception.  The tuned forked headstock with carbon fiber overlay are not only visually distinctive but they add to overall resonance and sustain.  The steel joining band on the headstock adds rigidity and mass for greater sustain as well.  In addition to these fine appointments, a reverse direction input jack and white sparkle finish add other elements of class.
